Congratulations
on a wonderful recital! Thank you to our Guild and to our Back Stage Moms who,
together, made it all possible!
Wondering what’s up for the
rest of the Dance Year? Well, on Tuesday May 6th
and Thursday May 8th we’ll be dancing at Wesley Woods. We are
dividing the show and dancing 45 minutes one night (in full costume and make-up)
and 45 minutes on the other. We’ll arrive at Wesley Woods at 6:30 and dance at
7:00. We’re working on the schedule now, so if you have a preference, please
let your teacher know. Then on Saturday May 17th
we’ll be traveling to Warm Springs to dance at Roosevelt Place Nursing Home;
we’ll caravan from the studio and plan to dance at 3:00. Both audiences are so delighted
that we want to share our time and talents with them.
Summer activities: Tot camp is June 9-13--$100.00--Miss Annette is teaching (ages 3-6); 9:30 to 11:45 (snack provided).
Dance Workshop--June
16-20--$175; 10-3, bring a lunch. Dance Workshop--July
21-25--$175.00; 10-3, bring a lunch. The dance workshops will be for
Ballets 2 through advanced.
Teachers to date: Miss Annette, Miss Katy, Miss Kara (from Dance Contempra), Miss Elise and Miss Laura (former students of Miss Katy who are now professional dancers). We’ll be offering ballet, jazz, tap, modern, contact improv, hip hop, contemporary, Irish and maybe even musical theatre.
Tuesday and Thursday nights in
June and July, we’ll offer classes in Pilates, yoga, Pointe, Vaganova technique,
Modern, Jazz, Ballet and whatever else strikes our collective fancies.
We will have sign-up sheets for
all of the above activities on the counter. And finally, the last day of regularly scheduled classes is Thursday May 22nd. We’ll start back up Monday August 4th.
Thank you parents, students and teachers for making this dance year so special!
Thank you parents, students and
teachers for all that you do! Happy Dancing— Miss Tonya and Miss Mary Frances
More Announcements
We've made a few changes in class protocol and wanted everyone to have a chance to read them and ask questions. They are as follows: In regularly scheduled class, when only 3 students come to class our teacher will offer instruction for 45 minutes: if 2 students show up, class time is 30 minutes. If only 1 student shows up, his/her class will meet for 20 to 25 minutes. Small classes mean more undivided attention per student--almost like a private lesson. As private lessons cost between $25.00 and $35.00 per half hour, your student, even with reduced class time, is reaping the benefit of his/her instructor's concentrated efforts.
Buns are REQUIRED for shoulder length hair in Ballet levels 3 and up; in all other classes hair must be off the shoulders and out of the eyes. No T-shirts/camisoles/shorts are to be worn in class without permission of instructor; dance skirts are permissible when further coverage is desired.
Students are not to lean on ballet Barres before, during or after class; proper dance technique requires good posture.
Classes start on the Half-hour; students should arrive 5-10 minutes early in order to complete their preparations before class. If a student is going to be late or to miss a class, please notify the studio or instructor as soon as possible.
Students and parents, thank you for your commitment in all you do! Happy Dancing! Miss Tonya and Miss Mary Frances
